Behind the Lens II
Behind The Lens II provides insight from each photographer about their image, giving viewers an extra dimension to the exhibition on display at London Paddington, 22 May – 19 June 2025. You can view all the winning images plus more at the South West Coast Path Photographer of the Year Exhibition at Paddington Station, London. The exhibition highlights the diversity, beauty, wildlife, heritage, and seasonality of the coastal environment, on and around the South West Coast Path. Thank you to Great Western Railway and Network Rail for their support of the exhibition.
Trails and Conservation
The recent IUCN recognition of trail corridors as Protected Areas gives an opportunity to leverage trail brands for sustainability.
The Coastal Wildbelt is a great example of the potential of trail corridors to deliver positive nature action and connect people with nature.
National Grief Awareness Week
To mark National Grief Awareness Week, we are sharing the very personal journey of Phil Brown, a member of the South West Coast Path Association who recently walked the full 630 miles in memory of his wife Anna. This is Phil’s story, in his own words, of his memorable walk.
Life on the Edge: Living and Working Beside the South West Coast Path
At the South West Coast Path Association we are fortunate to work with a range of diverse businesses that enjoy the Path as much as we do! One of these businesses is Whirlwind Sports, a sports retailer based in Cornwall who don’t just work near the South West Coast Path, they live in rhythm with it. The team at Whirlwind have written this guest blog to talk about their passion for the Path.
Inspired by the Coast – Ingrid Brown
Ingrid Brown is an artist based in Cornwall, who takes much of her inspiration from walks, time in nature, human interaction and the subtle rhythms of daily life at home and elsewhere. Her painted artworks are often created outside, ‘en plein air’; where she is exposed to the natural elements of the ever-changing Cornish weather.
World Mental Health Day – Reflections
This year, for World Mental Health Day, we reflect on the impact that our Coast Path Connectors programme is having on the groups we walk with and the people we have had join us. Our walks aim to encourage a step away from everyday life, and a step onto the Coast Path and a new environment, that can offer a sense of freedom and space for both mind and body, and boost mental health and wellbeing.
Inspired by the Coast – National Poetry Day
To celebrate National Poetry Day we are delighted to share a coastal collaboration between artist Jane Colquhoun, and poet Amanda Griffin, which is inspired by hikers on the Coast Path in Dorset.
