One powerful way to make a difference is by considering a gift in our Will to a cause that resonates with our values and passions. The South West Coast Path Association, with its commitment to preserving and promoting one of England’s most breath-taking natural treasures, offers individuals a unique opportunity to leave a legacy that provides beauty, conservation, and wellbeing for generations to come.

What is Remember a Charity Week?

Put in its simplest terms, Remember a Charity Week is seven days of charities coming together to highlight the importance of gifts in Wills, the benefits of making these gifts, and the significant impact that your legacy, no matter what size, could have on a Charity an on those who benefit from the work of the cause.

For the South West Coast Path Association, Gifts in Wills have made huge differences to Path Improvement projects, to the capacity of the Charity to manage these significant gifts, and to the journeys taken by millions of Path users each year.

Our staff, supporters, and those who have pledged legacy gifts to the South West Coast Path Association, have shared some of the reasons they feel leaving a gift in their Will is important…

A Gift Like No Other

The South West Coast Path, stretching over 630 miles, winds its way along the dramatic and diverse coastline of South West England. As the longest continuous coastal walking trail in Britain, it is an unparalleled national treasure that captivates the hearts of hikers, nature enthusiasts, and adventure seekers alike. Leaving a gift in your Will to the South West Coast Path Association ensures the preservation and enhancement of this remarkable coastal gem.

Protecting a Natural Treasure

Nature faces unprecedented challenges, with climate change, habitat loss, and pollution threatening fragile ecosystems. By supporting the South West Coast Path Association, you contribute to vital conservation efforts that safeguard the unique flora and fauna found along the path and the coastal margin. Your legacy helps protect the habitats of countless species and preserves biodiversity for future generations.

Open to All, Always

The Association strives to make the South West Coast Path accessible to people of all ages and abilities. With your support, they can improve facilities, create accessible pathways, and provide information to ensure everyone can experience the beauty and serenity of the coastline. Leaving a gift in your Will is a way to make nature inclusive, allowing more people to reconnect with the great outdoors.

A Natural Health Service

Nature has a profound impact on our wellbeing, offering solace, inspiration, and a chance to disconnect from the pressures of modern life. By supporting the South West Coast Path Association, you play a part in promoting outdoor activities and improving public health. Your gift helps maintain a free and natural sanctuary where people can find peace, improve their physical health, and boost their mental wellbeing.

Connecting Communities Locally

Beyond its natural wonders, the South West Coast Path forms a tapestry of local communities, each with its own unique charm and culture. The Association works closely with these communities, fostering engagement and collaboration, and ensuring that no matter your background or circumstance, everyone has the opportunity to connect with nature. By leaving a gift, you contribute to sustainable tourism and economic growth in the region while ensuring its cultural heritage endures.

A Truly Personal Connection

Since moving to Devon, we’ve loved our days out on the South West Coast Path. It was a fantastic way to meet new people when we were new to the area, and a lifeline for those long isolated months during the lockdowns of 2020 and 2021. By leaving a gift in our Will to the South West Coast Path Association, we’re making a deeply personal statement of our love and gratitude for this incredible natural resource, and a commitment to ensure that this remains for future generations. It allows us to be a part of something bigger than ourselves, leaving behind a lasting legacy that will positively impact the lives of countless individuals for years to come, just as it has done with our own.

Remember a Charity Week is a poignant time to reflect on our individual capacity to leave a lasting imprint on the world. By considering a gift in your Will to the South West Coast Path Association, you ensure the preservation of a national treasure, the conservation of nature, the promotion of well-being, and the engagement of local communities. Your legacy will continue to inspire, protect, and provide enjoyment for generations, celebrating the beauty of the South West Coast Path and its profound connection to the people who love it.
