Introducing Green Friday – The Sustainable Supplement to Black Friday
Put the dates in your calendar folks – Friday 24th November sees the South West Coast Path Association join other charities determined to turn the tides and make a positive impact to the environment, as we welcome Green Friday!
You’ll no doubt be familiar with Black Friday, which has grown exponentially in recent years. What was once a 5am queue outside electrical stores in America for the latest deals on flat-screen TVs, has now become one of the most important times for retail businesses globally, as well as an opportunity for shoppers to bag a pre-Christmas bargain. Whether selling on the high-street or promoting the latest online price slashes, it’s a huge opportunity not only for retailers to boost themselves in the run up to Christmas, but a fantastic opportunity for people like you and I to do something positive.
How Can We Turn Black Friday Green?
We recognise that Black Friday will be hugely important for retail in the coming weeks, and we want to support retailers to make a success of what they do. We also understand that, in a challenging economic climate, people are going to want to get fantastic deals to show their love to friends and family at Christmastime.
Put simply, Green Friday is a collective effort by charities and e-commerce businesses who believe in the power of the natural world, whether they focus on re-wilding green spaces, protecting National Trails and green spaces, preserving Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, or connecting actively with nature. We want to empower positivity through Black Friday, and ensure that the impact of Black Friday on the environment is offset, ensuring that the Natural World is protected for years to come, so that everyone can enjoy the wellbeing benefits of connecting with nature for years to come.
