Be a Coast Path Birthday Queen (or King!)
We don’t all get to have an ‘Official Birthday’ like the Queen is having this weekend, but we can all use our birthdays to do something amazing thanks to the new Facebook Birthday Fundraiser feature.

Tomorrow is World Environment Day and globally we’re turning our attention to air pollution. Here in the South West, our coast gives us all the chance to breath in deep lungfuls of fresh air on a regular basis. But we mustn’t take it for granted. We all need to take action to protect our environment and there are things we can do right now to make a difference, like changing the way you get to the South West Coast Path.
I must be the first rabbit to have completed the whole path! I set off from Minehead on 30th April 2014 with my mum, Liz Owsley, and her friend Mary Hansell.
If you took part in the Mount Edgcumbe parkrun at the start of April, you may have noticed an unusually large number of people wearing orange. These folks were in fact, the Plymouth Coastal Runners (PCR), an 800 strong running group that operate on a ‘run when you want’ basis using Strava and also organise social meet ups like this one for you to meet your fellow running buddies.
I will always remember it as the best walk I have undertaken
Exeter Chiefs players Sam and Joe Simmonds are getting behind our appeal to improve access to the South West Coast Path. Through the Step Up appeal, we’re aiming to raise £10,000 every year to replace the 1,000 steps that are needed to keep the Coast Path accessible to walkers and runners. The two rugby stars, who both grew up and still live in Teignmouth, where the Coast Path runs through, are backing the appeal and encouraging everyone in the South West to help look after this unique natural asset.
