Over the past 12 month’s we’ve seen an increase in dialogue about climate change and some of the actions we need to take to address this global issue. This has in part been a result of the G7 Summit held in Cornwall last summer and subsequently the COP 26 Climate Change Conference in Glasgow in November, both shining a light on the UK Government’s policies to mitigate the worst impacts and reduce future greenhouse gas emissions.
With over 9 million people using the SWCP each year, your support is vital to make every mile matter for our National Trail.
‘Heritage Open Days’ – England’s biggest festival of heritage and culture – starts later this week, running from the 10 – 19th September 2021. Hundreds of heritage sites that aren’t usually open to the public will be opening their doors to us all, many for free. At SWCPA HQ we felt that the festival was especially poignant this year after 18 months of access being restricted to so many of the special spaces and places which make us feel good. In this blog we have picked out ten sites that we as a team would like to visit, incorporating a walk along the National Trail.
Since the dawn of the South West Coast Path Photographer of the Year competition, we’ve witnessed nearly 200 ‘exceptional coastal events’ on the Trail. Find out from our Climate Crisis Capture Award winner, James Loveridge, how to capture a dramatic event on camera.
