This week (3rd – 9th June) we’re celebrating 40 years of National Volunteers’ Week, and the fantastic work and time that our volunteers dedicate to us across the SWCP, from our Trustees, to our Path Reps, Coast Path Connectors, Marketing volunteers, and more! To celebrate, we talked to volunteers across our National Lottery Heritage funded Coast Path Connectors project about their role, why they volunteer for us and their favourite stretches of coastline.
Seascape artist Lucy Young lives on the Jurassic Coast with her passion for the Ocean infused into all her work. Her artwork often depicts people and human activity that evokes a sense of action and joy in each piece. Discover what captures Lucy’s imagination and how much the coast has inspired her work.
Our featured artist this month is Laurie McCall. Living in Cornwall, Laurie has established himself as an artist known for his bold stylised paintings of the surf and coastline that he calls home. Laurie is also a photographer with an eye for capturing stunning images of waves as they barrel toward the shoreline. Christian Coan, a photographer from South-East England has been named the South West Coast Path Photographer of the Year 2021 for a beautiful image of Godrevy Lighthouse captured through a natural rock frame with rockpools reflecting the pink hue of dusk in West Cornwall.
